Time For You

Taking your foot off the gas doesn’t mean you have to stop.

I recently spoke to a friend of mine (she’s very similar to me) about how we feel when we slow down in life.

We both always seem to be running at a million miles per hour. Chasing our tails and on a constant cycle of go go go!

She recently took a couple days rest and I’ve just done a little slowing down myself. However both of us realised that we didn’t really know what to do with ourselves during this time and that we felt quite guilty for taking time off.

We have programmed ourselves so well to thrive off the constant busyness of our lives, that when we slow down we feel like its a complete stop and that we aren’t making any progress.

We began to hash this out and discussed the importance of taking scheduled time out to rest, recharge and refuel. Whether that meant having a sofa day or doing something fun that fills us with joy.

When we look at our health and wellbeing we should all really take a 360 approach. Looking at our down time as much as our productive time.

Finding a little balance between the two is where I think the sweet spot lies.

If Pilates teaches us anything it’s that things shouldn’t be a race. We should take a little and often approach if we want to see actual change and growth.

So I invite you to take a little inventory of what you do to balance your health in all aspects of your life. What do you do to look after your physical health? Your mental health? What do you do to achieve growth? And what do you do to refill your cup?

When you are aware of the areas that may be missing something then you can begin to make changes to find better balance. Allowing your energy to be both used wisely for growth and then refilled accordingly to maintain the pace of life.

Afterall you can’t pour from an empty cup!

Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty not only to attain it but to maintain it.
